The Birman Society Inc.

RESCUE FUND

The Rescue Fund consists of donations made by our Birman Society members, and resides within our financial report as a specific allocation of money under this heading.

The fund may be used to assist with the rehabilitation, either permanent or temporary of a Birman that is lost / abandoned / no longer able to be cared for. Costs that may be incurred are as follows :

· Money for releasing the cat or kitten.

· Transport costs.

· The cat may require immediate, or on going medical attention.

· If it’s not de-sexed and chipped, that would be done if no ownership can be established.

· The cost of housing and feeding until the cat /kitten is able to be relocated.

· Advertising expenses to try to return it to its home or establish it in a new home.

In the worst case scenario, and after considerable consultation, if the verdict is that the Birman does not display the necessary social skills to assimilate into a new home, or has an ongoing medical problem, the cat/kitten may have to be put to sleep.

There is high probability that more costs could be generated in the rescuing of a cat or kitten, but the above is a brief synopsis of what the fund is for.
